Who are Akron Press Club members?

The Akron Press Club represents the area's only association whose membership encompasses all communications fields. Members of the Akron Press Club are journalists, communicators and public relations professionals, and frequently news makers themselves. This powerful network includes professionals from newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and public relations; business and nonprofit communications; education, business and government.

Throughout its existence, the Akron Press Club has earned a reputation as a fraternal, philanthropic and community-oriented organization. It has a rich heritage of blending stimulating dialogue with entertaining programs of interest to its varied membership.

How many members does the Akron Press Club have?

Established in 1971, the Akron Press Club includes more than 100 members from Summit, Medina, Portage, Stark, Trumbull and Wayne counties.

What does it cost to join?
Effective Jan. 1, 2008, our annual membership dues are:

• $50 for active communicators
• $60 for members in non-communications fields
• $40 for retirees
• $15 for students and student interns
• We also offer a $60 corporate membership that a company can assign to one individual of its choosing. This membership belongs to the company. If the employee in whose name the membership is established leaves his or her employment, the company can transfer the membership to another staff member.

Once your application is received, it will be approved by the Akron Press Club Board. You will then receive an e-mail or phone call notifying you of your membership approval, along with an invoice for your dues.

The Akron Press Club membership year extends from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, which means your membership is renewable each year on the first of the year. Membership Renewal Forms are sent via e-mail and snail mail in January of each year. You can also download the Akron Press Club Membership Renewal Form.
