Join the Akron Press Club for a special event that will start with a behind-the-scenes tour of Canal Park, include a presentation by RubberDucks owner Ken Babby and end with a game between Akron and the New Britain Rock Cats. This event is co-sponsored with the Knight Foundation. The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with a tour of Canal Park. Those wanting to take the 30-minute tour should report to the Game Grill + Bar by 4:30 p.m. The Duck Club (located above the Game Grill) will open at 5 p.m. Ballpark food is included with the ticket price. RubberDucks owner Ken Babby will speak at 5:25 p.m. on “Affordable family fun: Using social media to grow a business in the community.” Babby bought the RubberDucks in 2013 and recently purchased the Double A Jacksonville Suns. As is the tradition of the Press Club, there will be the opportunity for questions following the speech. The game begins at 6:35 p.m.     Details: Event: Ken Babby speech followed by RubberDucks game. Time: Canal Park tour begins at 4:30 p.m., May 19. Duck Club opens at 5 p.m. Babby speech at 5:25 p.m. Game starts at 6:35 p.m. Place: Canal Park, 300 South Main Street, Akron. Free parking is available in the deck at State and Main streets after 5 p.m. Cost:  $28 per person. Cost includes tour, ballpark food and seeing the game from the Duck Club.. Cancellations: Cancellation requests must be received no later than 48 hours before the event. After that time, there will be no refunds and an invoice will be issued for payment. The Akron Press Club was founded in 1971 to promote a free press and serve local journalists and public relations professionals. The group has a rich heritage of offering newsmakers a forum to discuss issues of the day at Press Club luncheons and speaking events that are open to the public. The club also funds scholarships for journalists and public relations students and sponsors annual fundraising and community outreach events.
