Summit County Executive Russ Pry will deliver his annual State of the County Speech at the John S. Knight Center on Thursday, March 31. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. There will be the opportunity for questions following the speech. Pry has been Summit County executive since 2007, when he was selected to complete the term of retiring Executive James McCarthy. Pry has been elected to two terms and is running for re-election this November. The Summit County executive is responsible for an annual budget of nearly $500 million. A lifelong resident of Summit County, Pry holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Kent State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law. Prior to becoming county executive, Russ chaired the Summit County Democratic Party for 10 years. He is a life member and past treasurer of the Mogadore Historical Society and was the chairman of the Village of Mogadore Charter Review Commission in 1990.
