U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan will speak at the Akron Press Club on Monday March 11 at Quaker Station on the campus of the University of Akron. There will be the opportunity for questions following speech.

This event is co-sponsored with the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics.

Ryan is a Democrat from Ohio’s 13th Congressional district, which includes portions of Summit County. Now in his eighth term, he has represented the district since 2003. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, chairs the Legislative Branch Subcommittee of

the Appropriations Committee and co-chairs the Congressional Manufacturing Caucus.

Ryan holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and studied abroad as part of the Dickinson School of Law's International Law Program in Florence, Italy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Bowling Green State University.

He was an aide to Rep. Tim Traficant and served in the Ohio Senate from 2001 to 2002 before succeeding Traficant.

Ryan is a native of Niles and lives in Howland with his wife, Andrea, and their three children.
