A poll of Akron voters taken following the May 2 mayoral primary and presumptive Akron Mayor Shammas Malik will be featured at an Akron Press Club luncheon program Monday, June 5, 2023, at Quaker Station.

 There will be the opportunity for questions. 

The poll measured Akron voters’ expectations and concerns with the upcoming change in City Hall leadership in particular and for Akron in general. The public release of the poll will be June 5.   

Dr. John Green, director emeritus of the University of Akron Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics will present results of the poll. Dr. Green assisted with the survey. 
Shammas Malik will speak at the lunch following the poll presentation. Malik became the presumptive Akron mayor after defeating six other candidates in the Democratic May primary. There is no Republican candidate for mayor in the November election.

The poll was conducted by the Center for Marketing and Opinion Research in the weeks following the May 2 primary. The poll was funded by the Akron Press Club, NAACP Akron, Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, Akron Beacon Journal/BeaconJournal.com and the Ohio Debate Commission.
